Men's Basketball Earns Third Seed in Region XX Tourney

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team has earned the number three seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region XX Division III Championship, it was recently announced. The Riverhawks (3-2) will face CCAC Allegheny (4-1) in the semifinals at 6 pm Saturday, February 22nd, hosted by Westmoreland County Community College.

The Riverhawks previously lost to CCAC at home on January 10, 2020, falling 89-87 in a wire-to-wire close contest. Jamar Young led AACC in that game with 21 points, while Davon Jones added 20 including a four for five effort from three-point range. Braeden Cavey chipped in with 11 points in his third career start.  

The Riverhawks were impressive in their three Region XX Divisional wins, outscoring opponents by an average of 37 points, and pouring in 120 points in a 59-point victory against BC3.

In their pair of losses, AACC fell by two to the Wild Cats and by 12 to Prince George's in a wild back-and-forth affair.

Prince George's earned the top seed in the tournament with a 5-0 record and will play in the 4 pm semifinals against the winner of the first-round matchup between fourth seed Penn Highalnds (2-3) and fifth seed Westmoreland (1-4).

Ticket prices for the tournament are $5 general admission, $2 for kids 12 and under, and free for college students with valid ID.
