Twelve of Region 20's Best Selected as Men's Lacrosse All-America

Charlotte, NC– With the announcement of the 2023 NJCAA Men's Lacrosse All-America Teams, Region 20 lands seven student-athletes on the First Team and five on the Second Team, earning 12 of the 26 available spots. Each of the two NJCAA All-America team consists of 13 student-athletes. All-America consideration is based on a student-athletes ranking within their respective Region.

Six student-athletes from Harford Community College's National Championship Team earned All-America honors. A trio of sophomores, attackman Dylan Tomarchio, goalkeeper Alex Epple, and midfielder Trevor Sousa have been named First Team for the Fighting Owls

Tomarchio tallied 36 goals and five assists on the season, for 41 total points, including five goals in the national final against Nassau. Tomarchio was named Offensive Player of the Tournament for his contributions at nationals. Epple who was awarded Defensive Player of the National Tournament made 111 saves on the season, including seven saves in each of his national tournament appearances for the Fighting Owls, securing an undefeated season in the cage. Sousa was consistent for Harford all season, finishing with 29 points on 22 goals and 7 assists.  

On the All-America Second Team for Harford are Jack Mulligan, Ethan Storey, and Carter Korzenski.

Mulligan put up great numbers in his freshman campaign at attack, finishing with 50 points on 27 goals and 23 assists. His national tournament line included two goals and five assists. Mulligan was also named the National Player of the Week for April 12-18. Storey, a talented sophomore defender, caused 20 turnovers on the season, including eight in two national tournament games. Sophomore attackman Korzenski put together a solid season with 25 goals and 11 assists for 36 total points.

Sousa and Mulligan also earned All-Tournament honors for their play at the national tournament.

National semifinalist CCBC Essex has three student-athletes on the All-America teams. Sophomores Wyatt Antkiewicz and Kollin Vaught each earned First Team honors for the Knights.

Antkiewicz, a midfielder, was also voted the 2023 Region 20 Offensive Player of the Year after putting together a 33-point season with 22 goals and 11 assists while scooping 23 ground balls. Antkiewicz was also an All-American in the 2022 season when he was selected to the Second Team as a freshman. A dominant faceoff specialist, Vaught went 164-257 on the season, scooping 90 groundballs and scoring 13 times with four assists, providing plenty of offense for CCBC Essex in 2023. He was the NJCAA Player of the Week March 8-14, a candidate for Region 20 Specialist of the Year and was selected to the National All-Tournament Team after winning 15 of 19 faceoffs in the national semifinal.

Earning Second Team All-America honors for CCBC Essex is sophomore defender Douglas Fitzmaurice. Fitzmaurice caused 22 turnovers on the season and collected 26 groundballs.

Howard Community College, who advanced to the national quarterfinals has two All-America selections. Sophomore attackman Zane Dalpe earns First Team honors and freshman defender John Pavlick earns Second Team honors.

Dalpe is the only returning First Team All-American for Region 20 as he continued his stellar play, leading Region 20 in scoring and finishing as runner-up in Offensive Player of the Year voting. Dalpe finished the season with 57 points, including 39 goals and 18 assists. He also collected 24 groundballs. Pavlick, who caused 23 turnovers and scooped 38 groundballs as a defender, also tallied five points on the season with a goal and four assists. Pavlick's freshman numbers earned him runner-up in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Anne Arundel Community College earns one All-America selection in sophomore Brandon Grusholt. Grusholt did a bit of everything for the Riverhawks, earning First Team accolades for his 2023 season. He collected 51 groundballs, forced 22 turnovers and added 12 points on nine goals and three assists. Grusholt was recognized as Region 20 Specialist of the Year.

Harford Community College head coach Aaron Verardi was also named National Coach of the Year and Coach of the Tournament at Nationals.
