Lott Leads LCCC Men's Basketball to Season-Opening Victory over Allegheny County - Boyce

November 4, 2017 -- The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team opened the 2017-18 season this afternoon at the Community College of Allegheny County -- Boyce, and won, 95-84, behind 23 points and eight rebounds from sophomore forward Daniel Lott (Brooklyn/Brooklyn).

The score was tied at halftime, 42-42, but the Commodores opened a 12-point lead in the second half and Boyce could only come within seven before LCCC took control again. 

The Commodores offered a preview of things to come as they featured a balanced scoring attack with five players in double figures.  In addition to Lott's 23 points, sophomore Miles Meredith (Bedford/Bedford) scored 13 points and added four rebounds  Three other Commodores tallied 11 points each: sophomore guard Kevin Kelley (Amherst/Elyria Catholic); freshman guard Montez Day (Cleveland JFK) and sophomore guard Mike Rell (Parma/Valley Forge), who contributed four rebounds and a team-high six assists.

Sophomore forward Deric Nichols (Cleveland/Benedictine) equaled Lott's team-high eight rebounds and added six points. 

"I was proud of the team's effort today," Head Coach Marty Eggleston said.  "I would give us a grade of B-minus.  It was the first game and we are learning how to play with and for each other.  They are also learning that they have to be business-minded," Eggleston added. 

The Commodores are now 1-0 and play next weekend (Nov. 10-11) at the Westmoreland Tournament.
