Commodores Race Past Allegheny County – Boyce, 128-88, for 9th Straight Victory

The Lorain County Community College men's basketball team received scoring from 13 players, including five in double figures led by sophomore guard Mike Rell with a personal season-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting, to overpower Allegheny County – Boyce, 128-88, on Wednesday night, December 6, at the LCCC campus.

 Rell (pictured) became the 9th different scoring leader for the Commodores in a perfect 9-0 start to the season.  He was joined in double figures by sophomore forward Daniel Lott with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting.  Sophomore forward Miles Meredith tied his personal season-high with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and added 4 rebounds and a steal.  Freshman guard Justis Craig added 11 points plus 3 steals and freshman guard Oscar Dorsey contributed 10 points. Freshman forward JT Dudley grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds.

As a team, the Commodores shot 52.8% from the floor, their third consecutive game shooting over 50%.  Boyce shot 40.8 % for the game and was led by Alex Pane's 20 points and 8 rebounds. LCCC also controlled the boards, 46-36.

"Every single man contributed a lot tonight," Head Coach Marty Eggleston stated.  "Once we turned on our defense, it triggered our offense," Eggleston added with regard to the team's highest single-game point total of the season.  LCCC entered the game averaging 100.3 points, 4th best in Division III. They now average 103.3 ppg.

"Mike Rell came alive tonight; he took control of the tempo and was very effective," Eggleston noted. "Several players shot well and 46 rebounds is a solid number for us."

The Commodores led for 39 of the 40 minutes and after leading 63-43 at halftime while hitting 59%, opened a 49-point lead at 118-69 with 4:07 to play.

Boyce is now 2-6 for the season.  LCCC will have a 10-day break before hosting Southern State on Saturday, December 16 at 3 p.m.
