Cardinals Drop Game One to Catamounts

The CCBC Catonsville Cardinals promising two-game win streak now officially comes to an end. They would fall to WVU Potomac State College 0 - 10, on a March 26th doubleheader.

The Cardinals by the early conclusion of this game would be outhit 11 – 1 and show an issue of discipline, which would result in three crucial momentum-altering errors. In the first two innings, the Cardinals' field would step up as freshman pitcher Kayleigh Rishel (Leonardtown High) forced three early strikeouts.

The third inning and further on is when this game started to manifest itself out of reach, as WVU would post 10 runs in the next four innings. As WVU's lead began to grow, the Cardinals batters struggled to answer back and more importantly sustain a consistent presence on the bases. Freshman shortstop, Morhgan Gross (Howard High) would end up being the team's most significant contributor and the sole player who managed to record a hit.

At the bottom of the 6th inning, WVU would force the second mercy rule of the season on the Cardinals. AN unexpected turnout, as the Cardinals won their last game with a 13 – 1 score that forced mercy rule and showcased the Cardinals' dominant scoring presence we've seen throughout this season. Now the Cardinals' biggest priority is to minimize their errors and maximize their bating presence and momentum for game two.
