Cardinals Winning Streak Climbs to Four

CCBC Catonsville kicked off the week with a dominant performance against the College of Southern Maryland, winning 11-2 in game one of their series.

Despite both teams getting ten hits each, the Cardinals were able to capitalize on their hits while holding CoSM in check.

Catonsville struck first in the top of the first when two runs scored on an error. The Hawks would add a run via error in the bottom of the second, but it would be their only run until the sixth. Catonsville responded with eight unanswered runs, beginning with sophomore first baseman Tony D'Angeli (Atholton) scoring on a balk.

An RBI single by sophomore third baseman Noah Deluca (Arundel) made it 4-1 in the top of the third. With the bases loaded, the Cardinals scored yet again when sophomore center fielder Angelo Ramirez (North Atlanta) was hit by a pitch. The Cardinals added three more runs in the fifth, with two coming from a homer by sophomore shortstop Moises Aristy Jr. (Arundel). The onslaught continued in the sixth as sophomore designated hitter Pete Howell (Lake Howell) scored on a wild pitch. An RBI single from sophomore second baseman Christian Figueroa (St. Mary's) brought home another run, bumping the lead to 10-1.

Catonsville added one more run in the top of the seventh as Aristy singled to right field, bringing Ramirez home. The run secured an 11-2 victory for Catonsville, their fourth straight.
