NCCC picks up big split at Cecil

Niagara County Community picked up a big split at NJCAA Div. II Cecil College on the final day of its trip to Maryland. The T-Wolves wrap up the trek with a 3-5 record.

Sophomore designated hitter Michelle Maloney had an RBI double in the loss. NCCC had just three hits.

Freshman first baseman Samantha Ferington had two hits and three RBIs in the win. Classmate Marissa Burns finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while freshman third baseman Kelsi Palistrant chipped in with an RBI triple. Freshman right fielder Emily Benes made a game-saving catch in support of freshman right-hander Mariah Howe, who tossed all nine innings to earn her first win of the spring. She allowed 10 hits, six earned runs and struck out six.

The Thunderwolves return to action at 3 p.m. April 12 when they host Finger Lakes CC for a Region III doubleheader.
