Cecil Holds Off Jamestown

NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil baseball survived a late push from the Jamestown Jayhawks, claiming an 11-10 victory over the visitors on Sunday morning.

The Seahawks scored 10 of their 11 runs in two innings. However, a sacrifice fly in the first proved to be the difference when the last out was recorded.

With the win, Cecil grows its record to 8-11 for the season.

Game Highlights

For the third time in as many games, Jamestown took an early lead with three runs in the top of the first. Cecil produced one run in the bottom, but another three runs in the second pushed the Jayhawks ahead 6-1.

Cecil retaliated with its highest-scoring inning of the game, plating six runs on four hits and four walks in the second. A scoreless third gave way to a four-run fourth by Cecil to take an 11-6 advantage.

The Jayhawks slowly clawed their way back into the game over the final three frames, scoring one run in the fifth and sixth to cut the deficit to three. Dylan Byler (S,1) would surrender two runs in the seventh but eventually sealed the contest with a strikeout to send Jamestown packing.
