Men’s Soccer Draw Against Hagerstown

Men’s Soccer Draw Against Hagerstown

Hagerstown, MD- It was a very even matchup between the Cardinals and Hawks on Thursday afternoon in Hagerstown. Double overtime was not enough to decide a winner as the two teams would settle for a 1-1 draw. It was a back and forth battle in which each team had opportunities, but the defenses were key in keeping the game tied.

The Cardinals got the scoring started in the 26th minute when freshman, Juver Navarrete, scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Dyego Monteiro. This lead would not last long though, as Hagerstown's, Kyle Bankey, got the equalizer in the 39th minute to make things 1-1 at the half.

This would be all the scoring in the game as neither team could capitalize on opportunities in the 2nd half and overtime. Despite playing a man down for both overtime periods, the Cardinals made the necessary adjustments and stepped up defensively to ensure at least a tie.

The team is heating up at the right time as this is now three consecutive games without a loss. They hope to keep this momentum going as the region tournament is right around the corner. The regular season finishes up this Saturday, October 19th as the men travel to Northern Virginia Community College to take on the Nighthawks at 11 AM.
