Cardinals Fall Short

On March 15th, the Cardinals faced the University of Connecticut at Avery Point in a single nine inning game. It was a cold day for the Cardinals as they came up short of a victory. Both teams struggled offensively as neither team scored a hit in the first three innings. The tied turned in favor of Avery point in the fourth inning as they scored four runs off of walks.

In the Bottom of the fifth inning, Wyatt Moore (West Orange High school) singled up the middle to break the no hitter, giving the Cardinals some hope. In the bottom of the sixth, Angelo Ramirez (North Atlanta High School) led the inning with a single to center field. Ramirez was able to steal second and third base in back-to-back pitches; Moises Aristy Jr. (Arundel High School) singled up the middle bringing Ramirez home. With the Cardinal's trailing by four, they needed a breakthrough inning to launch a comeback.

The Cardinals managed to score two more runs thanks to sacrifice flies from Moises Aristy Jr. & Wyatt Moore. That was still not enough as the Cardinals lost by a final score of 5-3.
