Hawks Hold Catamounts to a halftime tie, losing match 5-1

Hawks Women's Soccer traveled to Keyser, WV, on August 30th, to play the WVU Potomac State College Catamounts, losing the match 5-1.  The Hawks fought hard in the beginning, holding the Catamounts to no score until Potomac State's Morgan Pyles scored an unassisted goal in the sixteenth minute of the first half. Twenty minutes later, at the thirty-sixth minute mark, Hagerstown's Mikaila Ek scored, tying the game and holding the Catamounts to 1-1 at the half.

Potomac State scored a goal off a free direct kick at the fifty-seventh minute, another at the sixty-fifth minute, again at sixty-nine minutes, and scored their fifth and final goal in the seventy-fourth minute of the game.

The Hawks had five shots on goal in the first half and fifteen shots in the second half, with a total of fourteen goals being on frame within the ninety minute match. Unfortunately, Hagerstown was unable to capitalize on scoring throughout the second half. Freshman, Kayda Shives was the Hawks top shooter with six shots total. Head Coach Clifton Williams stated, "they never gave up and that means a lot when playing the game at this level."
