Seahawks Swept Friday by Finger Lakes

NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil baseball dropped two games to the Finger Lakes Lakers on Friday afternoon at home.

The Seahawks are now 4-10 on the year.

Game 1 - Finger Lakes 7, Cecil 3 - Box Score

Cecil's struggles with the fifth inning carried over from Thursday, as the Seahawks gave up five runs in the frame to give the Lakers game one.

An RBI-double in the first put Finger Lakes ahead in game one. Cecil scaped together one run in the second and third, both via bases loaded walks. After a scoreless fourth, Finger Lakes would put up five runs thanks in part to a trio of RBI-doubles. This put the Lakers ahead 7-2.

Both teams were blanked in the sixth, while the Seahawks scored their final run on a wild pitch in the seventh before being retired.

Nate Ewing and Garrett Worthinton headlined Cecil's offensive efforts with one single and one double each. Vinnie Kershner (0-2) tossed 104 pitches in a losing performance.

Game 2 - Finger Lakes 5, Cecil 3 - Box Score

The Seahawks offense continued to struggle in the second game, tallying just three runs off five on their way to a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Lakers.

A pair of failed pickoff attempts wound up being the deciding factor in the game. A miscue on a throw to third with two outs gave Finger Lakes a 1-0 lead in the first, while a errant toss over to third doubled up the Lakers advantage in the second.

Both teams went on to plate two runs in third and one run in the fourth. Two scoreless frames would follow before the game was called due to rain after six innings.

Lane Weismiller topped the Seahawks with two hits, while Bryant Taylor doubled and drove home two runs. Kevin Gamber (0-1) suffered the loss from the bump.
