Seahawks Secure Rain-Shortened Split

NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil baseball stung Delaware Tech for six runs in the first inning, then held on to win a five-inning contest on Sunday afteroon.

The Seahawks earned their half-dozen runs via six hits, three wild pitches and two free passes. Patrick O'Brien set the tone for the inning with a triple to left, then scored via wild pitch. Kenny Scottborgh and Nate Ewing followed him with back-to-back doubles to make it a 2-0 game. Cecil picked up a third run via wild pitch, fourth on an RBI-double, and fifth via RBI-single. O'Brien stepped up and brought home the final run of the inning with an RBI-single.

Although Cecil would not score again, Jesus Ramos (1-0) and Gehrig Harsh did just enough to keep Delaware Tech away from the lead. The two surrendured just three runs (two earned) on six hits while tossing four strikeouts. After Harsh slammed the door on Delaware Tech in the top of the fifth, the game would be called due to rain.

Cecil improves to 1-3 on the season after the win.
