CSM Takes One of Two From Hagerstown

The College of Southern Maryland Hawks baseball team split with the Hagerstown Community College Hawks on April 12, winning Game 1 13-3 in six innings then losing Game 2 12-10.

Game 1

CSM's offense was churning from the start as they put up at least two runs in each of the first three innings, then closed the game out strong with at least two runs in the final two innings.

CSM's three hitters at the top of their lineup had three RBIs each; Dylan Castell went 3-3 in the leadoff spot and Hunter Rose and Justin Aponte both went 2-4.

Zack Robbins picked up his first win on the mound as he went five innings with three strikeouts, giving up only four hits.

CSM had six stolen bases, their most in a game since April 24, 2021 when they had seven against the Cecil College Seahawks in a 7-1 win.

Game 2

Castell stayed locked in at the plate as he went 2-2 with three walks. Jaden Gallagher went 2-2 with two walks, two runs, and two RBIs, and Ransley Ferraras went 1-1 with three walks and two runs scored. Nick Norton had his best day at the plate in his time at CSM so far as he registered his first multi-hit game while driving in four runs.

CSM held a 10-9 lead through four innings, but Hagerstown broke through in the fifth with two runs to take an 11-10 lead that ended up being all they needed to beat CSM.

Aponte went 1-5 to put him on a current 10-game hitting streak.

CSM is now 12-16 overall and 4-8 in Region 20 Division II.
