HCC volleyball remains perfect in conference

HCC 3, CCBC Essex 0

Hagerstown Community College improved to 6-0 in the Maryland JUCO Conference and 5-0 at home with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 win over Community College of Baltimore County Essex on Monday.

For the Hawks (7-4 overall), Mallory Jackson had eight kills, Lexi Spickler had 14 digs and Brooke Crawford had eight aces.

• GIRLS SOCCER

Clear Spring 5, Saint James 0

CLEAR SPRING — Gabi Conrad had two goals and an assist to lead Clear Spring past Saint James on Monday.

Grace Weber, Hannah Hoffman and Leah Howard rounded out the scoring, Grace Magaha and Jaiden McKinney each had an assist each and Meghan Byers had two saves in the shutout for the Blazers (6-2).

Fannett-Metal 2, Southern Fulton 1

WILLOW HILL, Pa. — Jamie Adams and Brynn Hartman each scored a goal for Fannett-Metal in its win over Southern Fulton on Monday.

For the Indians, Kylie Golden had a goal and Bailey Burkett made five saves.

Thomas Johnson 8, South Hagerstown 0

FREDERICK, Md. — Tyra Martina had six saves and Jordan O'Reilly had two saves for South Hagerstown in Monday's loss.

Boonsboro 3, Smithsburg 2

BOONSBORO — Nick Kauffman had a goal and an assist for the Warriors in their win over the Leopards on Monday.

Mac Long and Reilly Long each had a goal for Boonsboro (3-3), while Tobin Long had an assist and Connor Blair had four saves.

For Smithsburg (3-3), Bright Djampa had a goal and an assist, Josue Lopez had a goal, Tyler Rohrer had an assist and Gavin Garner had 11 saves.

CVCS 7, Heritage 0

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Kenneth Hott had three goals and two assists and Eric Woo had three goals and an assist to lead Cumberland Valley Christian School past Heritage Academy on Monday.

Joel Vandersleen had a goal and an assist for CVCS, while Nick Park had two assists, Jimmy Hong added an assist and A.J. Hetzer made 14 saves for the shutout.

Jon Brauson had 18 saves for Heritage.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Mikaylah Hoy had 26 kills and 16 digs to lead undefeated Heritage Academy in a 25-20, 25-21, 25-18 MDCC sweep of Cumberland Valley Christian School on Monday.

Leanna Shank had 33 assists and 11 digs, Maelynne Patey had 10 kills and six digs, Amy Gaylor had nine digs, three blocks and three aces, Chloe Gaylor had seven digs and Summer Seaward had four digs and three aces for the Eagles (10-0).

For CVCS, Mackenzie Householder had 23 assists, Emilee Beam had seven kills, six digs and four aces, Kaitlin Provard had six kills, Hunter Timmons had four kills and three blocks, Tahra Kennedy had four kills, Kerri Potteiger had 11 digs, Shelby Heckman had seven digs and Isabel Beard had six digs.

Smithsburg 3, Boonsboro 0

BOONSBORO — Katie McCracken had 27 assists and nine digs as Smithsburg rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 25-12, 25-23, 25-17 sweep of Boonsboro on Monday.

Lauryn Daniels had 12 kills and six digs, Sydney Scott had nine kills and Hannah Lund had 11 digs and six aces for the Leopards (6-1).

Kam Crawford had four kills, 11 digs and eight assists and Morgan Dyer had three kills, five digs and three blocks for the Warriors.

Williamsport 3, Clear Spring 0

CLEAR SPRING — Emily Ernst had 10 kills for Williamsport in its 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 sweep of Clear Spring on Monday.

Britney Malphurs had 22 assists, six digs and three blocks for the Wildcats (4-2), while Laken Michael had six kills and four blocks, Alyssa Barkdoll had five kills and four blocks, Alyssa Shoemaker and Sam Baker had seven digs each, Lexie Schlotterbeck had three kills and four blocks and Hayley Kendle added three kills.

McKenzie Slough had 18 digs, Morgan Landman had nine assists, seven digs and three kills, Jordyn Smith had four kills, Kylee McKenrick had three kills and five digs and Gretchen Stenger had three kills for the Blazers (1-4).

FREDERICK, Md. — Thomas Johnson swept visiting South Hagerstown 25-18, 25-20, 25-16 on Monday.

For the Rebels (0-6), Asia Carbaugh had six kills and six digs, Sadie Leisinger had five kills and six digs and Sara Murray had 17 assists and four aces.

Chambersburg 3, Greencastle 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Rachel Verhoef had eight kills, four blocks and three aces for Greencastle-Antrim in a 25-22, 29-27, 25-21 loss to Chambersburg on Monday.

Bailey Wilson had 26 assists, Keri Gearhart had seven kills, Baylee Schaeffer had six kills and three aces and Madee Goodwin had five kills for the Blue Devils.

Meyersdale 3, Southern Fulton 1

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. — Drew Gordon had 12 kills, 12 digs and three blocks for Southern Fulton in a 25-16, 27-25, 20-25, 25-14 loss to Meyersdale on Monday.

Jessie Covalt had seven kills, Lindsey Hollenshead had five kills and five digs, Janelle Appel had five kills and nine digs, Madi Breeze had three kills and 14 digs, Izzy Burch had 13 assists and four digs and Zoie O’Neal had 10 assists and three kills for the Indians.

Rams’ Lolley honored for big day

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Shepherd senior running back Jabre Lolley was named the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Lolley rushed 18 times for a career-high 239 yards to help lead Shepherd to a 56-41 win over West Virginia State on Saturday. He averaged 13.3 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns.

Rams’ LaBella earns MEC weekly honor

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Shepherd junior goalkeeper Christi LaBella was named the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

LaBella helped the Rams go 1-0-1 in two conference matches last week. She made seven saves in a shutout win over West Liberty and then had six saves as the Rams played Fairmont State to a 1-1 draw.
