Wolfpack Come up Short at Hocking

NELSONVILLE, Ohio - Hocking College built a 17-point halftime lead and held off several comeback attempts from the Westmoreland County Community College men's basketball team Saturday afternoon to claim a 91-74 victory over the Wolfpack.

The major difference in the game was on the glass, as the Hawks held a commanding 52-20 rebounding advantage, which included 25 offensive boards. Hocking used that to take a 49-32 halftime lead, but the Wolfpack managed to get within single digits a couple times in the second half, including as close as eight points before Hocking pull away to secure the win.

Jakir Hampton continued a strong start to the season for Westmoreland. He was 8-for-13 from the floor, including 4-for-5 from the arc, and scored 24 points in the contest, while also grabbing a team-high five rebounds. Also reaching double digits in the game was Tahiry Vines with 15 markers and Joel LoNigro with 14 points and a team-best five assists.

The Wolfpack will be back on the court this Friday, March 12 with a road game at Penn Highlands, scheduled for a 6 pm start.
