Cardinals Make It Two Straight Wins

The CCBC Catonsville softball team made it two straight wins on Saturday, defeating Corning Community College 11-9 for their second win of the day.

After defeating Patrick Henry several hours earlier, the Cardinals built up an 11-4 lead on Corning, then held off a late comeback attempt to extend their winning streak.

Catonsville scored three quick runs in the top of the first, establishing an early advantage. The Red Barons would fight back, scoring four unanswered runs in the bottom of the third. The Cardinals answered with eight unanswered runs of their own, building their lead to 11-4.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Red Barons attempted a comeback, scoring six straight runs. Freshman pitcher Kayleigh Rishel (Leonardtown) entered the game for the Cardinals, closing out the contest and preventing a comeback.

Sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Brooks (Hammond) ended the contest with two doubles and two RBIs. Freshman catcher Hailey Seaton (Liberty) had a triple and a pair of RBIs, while freshman third baseman Tori Bache (Northeast) added three RBIs and a home run.
