Cardinals Get Back on Track with Big Win over Harford

CCBC Catonsville's baseball team kicked off their spring break with a clutch victory over the Fighting Owls of Harford.

Catonsville held off two Harford rallies to clinch their 18th victory of the season, keeping the Cardinals close to Frederick in the race for Region XX.

The Cardinals would strike first when sophomore second baseman Christian Figueroa (St. Mary's) smacked a sac fly to left field. Up 1-0, the Cardinals extended their lead when sophomore outfielder Caleb Bailey (Old Mill) scored on an error. Catonsville added one more run in the second when sophomore outfielder Angelo Ramirez (North Atlanta) scored off an RBI single from freshman outfielder Jalen Williams (Western Tech).

Harford would attempt their first rally in the fifth, scoring twice to make it a one-run game. The Cardinals responded in the bottom of the fifth as sophomore shortstop Moises Aristy Jr. (Arundel) sent an RBI single through the left side, bringing home Ramirez. Catonsville added one more run in the bottom of the sixth as sophomore infielder Orlando Perez Jr. (Winter Park) scored off an RBI from Williams.

Trailing 5-2, Harford would attempt one last comeback in the top of the seventh. While an error did allow one run to score, the Fighting Owls were shut down by freshman pitcher Jackson Bauer (Mt. St. Joseph).

Ramirez finished the afternoon with a stolen base, a double, and an RBI. Williams had two RBIs, while Aristy added an RBI.
