Baseball Drops 9-Inning Game vs. CCBC Catonsville

The Prince George's Community College baseball team returned home after a weekend trip to Paul D. Camp Community College over the past weekend to take on CCBC Catonsville in a Maryland JUCO matchup on Tuesday, March 28th. The Owls jumped out to an early 2-0 lead by the third inning but Catonsville's Cardinals were able to rally late as they dropped Prince George's, 8-4 in 9 innings.

Jacob Jewett (Tampa, FL) got the start on the mound for the Owls and threw three hitless innings to begin, striking out two batters in the process. On offense, the Owls recorded solo homeruns in both the second and third innings by sophomores Elijah Tyler and Jose Acevedo, respectively. Tyler's homerun was his second of the season while Acevedo earned his first.

Jewett was replaced by Jaisal Kapoor (Silver Spring, MD) after five innings but not before the Cardinals had took the lead, 3-2 following a 2-run fifth inning. Kapoor had a three up, three down top of the sixth which Santiago Jimenez (Bayonne, NJ) followed up with another solo homer to tie things up at 3. Catonsville responded with back-to-back two-run innings to regain the lead, 7-3 before Acevedo tacked on the final run of the day for the Owls in the 8th with a sacrifice fly to make the score 7-4. Catonsville added one more themselves in the final inning after Kapoor was replaced by Joseph Kline (Greenbelt, MD) to close out the game. Prince George's was unable to rally in the last half inning which sealed the 8-4 loss for the Owls which drops them to 3-11 on the year.

Prince George's will have a rematch against the Cardinals in another 9-inning game on Thursday, March 30th at Catonsville. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm. Viewers can follow along with live stats and a live stream provided by CCBC Catonsville.
