Westchester Snags Two From Seahawks

NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil baseball dropped the opening two contests of a four-game series with the Westchester Vikings on a windy Friday afternoon at home.

The Seahawks fall to 1-4 after the losses.

Game 1 - Westchester 11, Cecil 8 - Box Score

Patrick O'Brien finshed a home run short of the cycle and stole three bases, but the Seahawks fell in extra innings to the Vikings in the opener.

Cecil pushed ahead 4-1 after the first four innings, but the Vikings plated six runs over the next two frames for an 7-4 lead. O'Brien would lead a Cecil comeback in the sixth, driving in Gio Malatesta with a triple before scoring via wild pitch. A throwing error later scored Nate Ewing to tie the game. A scoreless final innining proceed extras.

Westchester got the first crack in extras and capitalized, scoring three runs via the long ball and a fourth on a double steal. Cecil would manage to put runners on with one out in the bottom eighth, but plated just one run before the side was retired. 

Outside of O'Brien's big day, five Seahawks picked up one hit each in the loss. Headlining the pack were Sael Flete (one hit, one RBI) and Garrett Worthington (one double).

Dylan Nickle took the loss in relief, getting tagged for seven unearned runs over 2 2/3 innings. Starting Pitcher Kyle Stively struck out seven batters in five innings but took a no decision.

Game 2 - Westchester 10, Cecil 2 - Box Score

The Vikings took a lopsided game two that was called after five innings due to darkness. 

The Seahawks two runs both came in the third via an RBI-single by Ryan Thompson and a bases loaded fielder's choice. Double's by Garrett Worthington and Gio Malatesta highlighted a rough day at the dish for Cecil.

Joe Blanco was pinned with the loss. He struck out two batters in 3 innings of work.
