Seven From Region Named NJCAA All-American

ARNOLD, Md. – Seven fall sport student-athletes from four NJCAA Region 20 member institutions were named 2023 NJCAA All-Americans. Three volleyball student-athletes and four men's soccer student-athletes were recognized for excellence on the court or field in 2023.

Laura Piva, an outside hitter from Harford Community College, was named to the Division II Honorable Mention Team. She led the Fighting Owls to their second-straight NJCAA Region 20 Division II championship and was the tournament MVP.

Outside hitters Aryana Girvan and Johnna Hill from Butler County Community College were named to the Division III Second and Third Teams, respectively. Girvan was named the Region 20 Divison III tournament MVP as she led the Pioneers to their fifth consecutive Region 20 crown.

In men's soccer, midfielder Carl Romberg of Montgomery College was named to the NJCAA Division I Third Team. Romberg led NJCAA Region 20 Division I players in points (42), goals (18), and assists (6). He and the Raptors claimed the Region 20 championship in an upset win over top seed Harford.

Three student-athletes from CCBC Essex earned Division II Men's Soccer All-America honors. Midfielder Zach Eichelberger was named to the First Team, forward Noel Sotelo was named to the Second Team, and defender Caleb Marchany was named to the Third Team. Eichelberger led Region 20 in points (61) and goals (24) as the Knights won their 12th straight Region 20 DII title. Sotelo ranked fourth in the Region 20 in points (39) and goals (16), and Marchany anchored the Knights' back line that allowed opponents just over seven shots per game while holding them to a .155 shot percentage.
